Single Visit Crowns

Crowns are synthetic caps to be placed on top of a tooth. They are made of a material like porcelain and are used to restore a tooth's function and appearance after a restorative procedure such as a root canal.

Sometimes crowns are used to restore a tooth which is largely damaged from decay or surgery. They are also used to attach bridges, cover implants, prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or damaging an existing filling. They also help in restoring discolored or stained teeth to their natural appearance.

What Is A Crown

During the procedure, a tooth is usually reduced in size to accommodate a crown. Then, an impression of the tooth is taken as measurement to design the crown. However, Maritato Dental uses state-of-the-art Cerec technology which designs the crown at the office itself within two hours.

Crowns are different from veneers, which are applied only to relatively small areas. A crown lasts up to eight years or more with proper care. You should floss to avoid excess plaque or collection of debris around the restoration.

Jaw clenching or bruxism, also called teeth grinding, significantly shorten the life of a crown. Even eating brittle foods like ice or hard candy can damage the crown. Visit us today to schedule an appointment. We will guide on the do's and don'ts.
